For all languages, there's an extensive library of reusable code snippets ranging from beginning programming constructs (like For loops) to sophisticated idioms that can even assist experts (for example, in working with XML). For Visual Basic, the tool suggests ways to correct several hundred syntax errors and warnings. The new Visual Studio's enhanced support for writing code beyond components is a major advance. Other new wizards add a complete Windows menu and standard toolbars automatically. As I dragged controls on forms, guidelines popped up on the fly, making precise alignment of controls to other components a cinch, even down to single pixels. The visual designer for Windows Forms is particularly powerful. NET controls let you tap advanced OS features like Windows services, background threads, and even message queuing-without requiring a black belt in programming. There's also a powerful grid control for displaying multiple records. New wizards, many of which are accessible through smart tags, let me quickly create forms with slick navigation controls. NET Framework 2.0 components, designing a front-end for an order-tracking database proved quick work in both Visual Basic and C#.Įasy-to-use components make connecting to data sources (whether database or remote components) simple. As I soon discovered, the ability to create standalone Windows projects using Windows Forms is a major focus of the new release. The default start-up screen, a sort of mini-portal, lets you see recent projects and online content. The integrated development environment (IDE) looks much like its old self but has several significant productivity enhancements.

If anything, I'd rather install visual studio by hand, and have the rest of the stuff install unattended (and all the tweaks/customizations). Lots of in-house stuff, some extra web dev stuff, and usually tons of other dev stuff like RKs, SDKs, IIS tools, etc) That, and every install is always followed with tons of other stuff (various framworks, several TDD-oriented apps, N-Everything, CodeSmith & MyGeneration plus a couple ORMs, Jetbrains apps, visualizers, Consolas and a couple other fonts,ĭB2 & Oracle "addins", a couple SCM tools, couple XML tools, a few nice components, Only have so many VS2005 instances to install, and it's not like we have to reinstall it often or anything (haven't had to reinstall it even once since it's out of beta) That's one thing I don't bother unattending. Please let me know if anyone able to solve this question, Thank you! When I was trying to put the Visual Studio 2005 into my Unattended Installation DVD, for some reason it come out with an error: "Line 1 of the INF file \i386\txtseup.sif is invalid. Also, you are required to using the same operating system when you are creating the unattend.ini fileģ. When you tried to perform the Administrator Mode setup, make sure that you are using "VS2005\setup\setup.exe" instead of "VS2005\setup.exe"Ģ. Goto "RUN", Enter "VS2005\setup\setup.exe /unattedfile VS2005\setup\unattend.ini"ġ.
Now, everytime you wanted to install sliently:ġ. Now, follow the instructions in the Administrator Mode setup, and it will create the "unattend.ini" file Goto "RUN", Enter "VS2005\setup\setup.exe /createunatted VS2005\setup\unattend.ini"ģ. Goto the Visual Studio 2005 Folder, I call it "VS2005" for easier explainĢ. There is the way to install sliently, and it's work (in local or network machines)!ġ.
